TIMOR WAS INVADED!: WEBINAR: Wednesday 16th February, 7pm AEDT. On the 80th anniversary of the Japanese invasion of Portuguese Timor, Jose Ramos-Horta, Kirsty Sword highlight the links forged between Timorese and Australians in WWII and their importance today as the Timorese support Australian lawyer and whistleblower Bernard Collaery. INDONESIA HUMAN RIGHTS LEADERSHIP TO INFLUENCE POLICY: The program concludes next week with a three day workshop where program participants will present their projects focused on peacebuilding, children’s rights, women’s rights, Indigenous peoples, digital rights and more, and discuss their future plans.

ALUMNI PROFILE: PILL KYU HWANG

Pill Kyu is a human rights lawyer with the Gonggam Human Rights Law Foundation in South Korea. His main areas of practice are migrants and refugees; business and human rights; UN advocacy; disaster and human rights; children’s issues and North Korean issues. Recently, he has been especially focused on the area of disasters and human rights, including Covid-19.
