Welcome to this issue of DTP’s eNews.This issue we have updates on upcoming DTP programs, news from alumni and partners across the region, and resources. We highlight a profile of one of DTP's much loved and valued trainers, Joshua Cooper, as well as another recent alumnus, Muhammad Syukron Anshori from Indonesia.

TRAINER PROFILE: JOSHUA COOPER

Joshua Cooper has been serving as trainer at DTP for over a decade. Joshua teaches at the University of Hawai'i and is currently the Director of the Hawai'i Institute for Human Rights and CEO of the GOOD Group. He teaches on Indigenous peoples rights; UN Human Rights Mechanisms (including the UPR); the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its Voluntary National Review process; climate change and the Nationally Determined Contribution process; and Business and Human Rights.

ALUMNI PROFILE: MUHAMMAD SYUKRON ANSHORI

Muhammad Syukron Anshori is the Head of the Media and Information Unit at the Indigenous Peoples' Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN). AMAN works intensively with Indigenous peoples to enable Indigenous communities to have political sovereignty, economic independence and cultural dignity.

"In the DTP training, I learnt how human rights mechanisms work and how we could use diplomacy to negotiate in a political situation... In essence, I have strengthened my understanding of how rights work. I kept all the reading materials and will use those materials in my future work."
