In this issue, we profile alumna Celine Lim and her work to save the rivers and forests of Sarawak, provide information about DTP's programs, including new webinar series, this year's Annual Human Rights and Peoples' Diplomacy Program in Timor-Leste, reports on recent programs and news from alumni, partners and the region, and calls from the UN for your engagement.

DTP, like others, has been affected by suspension of funding from US sources following the inauguration of President Trump. Celine Lim

Celine is an Indigenous peoples rights and environmental advocate based in Sarawak, Malaysia. She is the Managing Director of SAVE Rivers, a grassroots movement that defends Indigenous peoples’ land rights and environmental sustainability in Malaysia.

"DTP didn’t just introduce me to new knowledge—it connected me to a network of professionals who continue to support SAVE Rivers work. We still keep in touch. Many of my closest connections are with DTP alumni from Malaysia, who are also part of our national human rights defenders' network and coalition. Even during our SLAPP lawsuit, they were among the first to check-in, ensuring we had the resources and support we needed."

DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
