MC belongs to the Meetei, an ethnic minority of India’s North East region. His organisation works with local people and NGOs to bring about peaceful settlements between the armed-opposition groups in the region and the Indian Government. As Coordinator, MC’s responsibilities include working to deescalate hostilities between the parties peacefully. He also takes up issues of human rights violations with other NGOs, and organises lectures and workshops on international issues dealing with human rights and international law. MC hopes the training will assist MIYC in building up diplomacy advocacy along with human rights and may assist in solving different issues facing Manipur.
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples should be aware that this website contains images or names of people who have passed away.
