Webinar
Tuesday 12th December, 2023
These webinars are always the first resource I point people towards when they want to learn more about the UNCRC or children’s rights more generally.
Natalie Lewis, Commissioner, Queensland Family and Child Commission
This series of 24 webinars on the Convention on the Rights of the Child features leading child’s rights experts, practitioners and young people exploring the challenges in realising children’s rights in practices.
The webinars cover a wide range of issues including child participation, juvenile justice, climate change, business and human rights, rights of LGBTQI+ children and more, and focus on the responsibilities of government to implement the Convention and the recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Each webinar features 2-3 speakers giving short presentations, followed by discussion/Q&A. A list of valuable resources is attached to each webinar.
The webinars were organised in collaboration with Australian Lawyers for Human Rights and Youth Law Australia, with Dr Noam Peleg (Faculty of Law and Justice, University of New South Wales). The Webinar series ran between 2020 and December 2023.
“The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) consistently delivers informative, accessible and high quality webinars on the rights of the child. As the Commissioner at the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC), these webinars are always the first resource I point people towards when they want to learn more about the UNCRC or children’s rights more generally. DTP does an excellent job finding contemporary, leading experts on children’s rights to participate in the webinars and always facilitates a meaningful discussion that goes beyond academia to show practitioners and policy makers how they can bring a child rights focus to their work.”
- Natalie Lewis, Commissioner, Queensland Family and Child Commission
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
