Iqin heads the Research and Campaign Department of Walhi Yogyakarta, an environmental organisation which focuses on advocacy and environment policy in Indonesia. In this role, Iqin conducts extensive research into human rights and crafts strategic plans for environmental campaigns in his local city. He is widely familiar with environmental cases concerning matters of ecological disasters, victims of development, the need for clean and accessible water, environmental damage resulting from the iron mining in Kulon Progo, and the adverse impacts of mining to the local communities there. Iqin hopes to contribute to the training program his knowledge of the ecological disasters occurring in his local community. He endeavours to share cases of environmental mismanagement and would like to discuss ways of effectively handling human rights abuses by corporate entities.
