Alex Kirihio

Alex is currently working for the Biak branch of a HR group called Elsham. He is engaged in monitoring HR violations in Biak, verifying details and reporting them to local authorities whenever necessary. In addition to his monitoring work Alex does youth advocacy work related to HIV/AIDS in the youth organization, Yapikbi. Along with his HR work he acts as an advocate for Biak culture and engages in sessions with community elders to encourage them to remember Biak culture and pass it down to younger generations. Alex is interested in the course because he believes it can teach him how to work in the field of HR protection. He desires to be trained in the practical field work (reporting, social skills, communication skills) as well as learning more about international HR laws and the UN system. A strong personal motivating factor is to stop the ongoing HR violations to the Papuan people by the Indonesian army.
