Allira Sinclair

Australia
Allira volunteers as the diversity/welfare coordinator in WA for the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. She is involved in joint programs with a number of Indigenous organisations in educating Indigenous youth about how climate change affects them and their culture. Allira hopes to ensure that the voices of Indigenous people are heard for the purpose of creating a higher mandate for climate change. Allira feel that the Summit would assist her to learn new skills and strategies from experienced human rights advocates that could be shared with her community and put into practise. Allira believes that there is limited knowledge amongst the Indigenous youth about their culture and rights, hindering empowerment of her people. Allira is also concerned about land rights and the issue of self-determination and that Indigenous communities should have more rights in deciding how issues affecting their people are addressed.
