Anita is the Associate Coordinator for the Aboriginal Health Program at Curtin University. She is responsible for assisting with the overall co-ordination, management, development and implementation of the Aboriginal Health Program. She is also involved in the University’s Bachelor of Education Conversion Course and Indigenous Community Management and Development Program. The Aboriginal Health Program offers an innovative combination of contemporary health practices mixed with traditional Australian Indigenous healing techniques. It addresses five areas of study: Indigenous terms of reference; personal and professional development and resourcing families and primary health care practices. The program aims to provide students with the ability to realize Indigenous self-determination and empowerment, to develop the knowledge and competence required by Indigenous people to assume health care roles and to encourage Indigenous people in community development. Anita co ordinates the Bachelor of Applied Science (Indigenous Community Management and Development) program. This course aims to further Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self determination and self management, it also aims to extend the knowledge and competence required to bring about culturally appropriate societal change and to further empower the process of Indigenization in organizations and communities. Anita is currently enrolled in a Master of Human Rights Education at the Centre for Human Rights at the Curtin University of Technology. The course aims to raise awareness and further understanding of human rights issues.
