Bishnu Prasad works for the International Institute for Human Rights Environment and Development. He is engaged in proposal writing, fund raising, identifying the needs of target groups, and providing recommendations for designing programs and strategies in the area of human rights. His work also involves identifying and preparing case studies reflecting impact of armed-conflict on women and children, as well as working within the UN human rights system especially the monitoring aspects of treaty bodies. His responsibility to the organization as a Human Rights Officer is to carry out the programme of human rights and peace in Nepal which includes fact finding missions, monitoring the current situation, and issuing urgent actions and appeals regarding human rights violation cases. Bishnu Prasad feels that this program would be an excellent avenue to build and enhance a network for the exchange of information, experience, and a wide variety of different perspectives in the realm of human rights. He also hopes to enhance his practical debate skills so that he can relay regional support for the ratification of various human rights treaties. He expects that the course will help him understand the underlying problems and that the course would help evolve new ideas towards safeguarding human rights for all.
