Daphne Daniels

Sunrise Health Service
Australia
Daphne has been a board member of the Sunrise Heath Service Aboriginal Corporation since its inception in 2002. The Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is a community-controlled organisation that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the people in the Katherine region through using a holistic approach that fuses medical care and promotion of social justice. In her role, Daphne helps set the policy direction of the heath services, often by mixing traditional Indigenous culture with mainstream medicine. Previously, Daphne ran the Ngukurr community newsletter and worked for the Yugul Mangi Community Government Council, the local government authority responsible for the administration and management of some 12,000 square kilometres in southeast Arnhem Land.
