David Jamali

Australia
David is the East Asia Program Officer for Oxfam Australia. In his current role he is focusing on East Timor, in particular he will be using his knowledge and experience of human rights to further the advocacy initiatives of Oxfam in the Mekong region. Within Australia David is concerned with scrutinising the priorities of aid and development and encouraging Australians to take responsibility for Australia’s influence and activities in the Mekong region. His expectation is that the DTP program will equip him with new skills, strategies and methods to employ in the field on the contemporary trends and development issues currently being employed by other practitioners in the field. David hopes the program will provide him with important networking opportunities, to share with other advocates in the region knowledge and experiences of working with multinationals, World Bank and local people. Utilising the knowledge gained from his own experiences and the training program he hopes to organise advocacy training for local activists to the end of providing them with the means to take control and contribute to the processes that affect their lives.
