Dewayne Mundraby

CEO, North Queensland Land Council Native Title Representative Body Aboriginal Corporation
Australia
Dewayne speaks his traditional language of Idinji fluently and has been advocating for Native Title rights as well as the recognition of Indigenous custodianship for almost six years now. He believes that without ownership of traditional lands and opportunities for development, Indigenous Australians will continually be confronted with oppressive policies. Dewayne is involved in negotiating Native Title agreements and custodianship arrangements, and applies dispute resolution strategies in his mediation and negotiation work. He is currently working on a Native Title claim involving over 80 parties which has already taken over 8 years to resolve. Dewayne also manages staff, develops work schedules and is involved with reporting, planning, developing strategies and filling in for the Corporation’s CEO when required. Dewayne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies with a second major in Intelligence and National Security. Dewayne wishes to develop his advocacy skills and to network with and learn from other Indigenous Australians.
