Geeshani Ekanayake

Geeshani Dasanthi Ekanayake [F] is a Program Officer with the Institute of Social Development (ISD) in Kandy working on a 3 years project funded by Brot fur die weit to enhance the status and knowledge of unorganized sector women workers in Central and Uva Provinces, Sri Lanka. In order to enhance the knowledge of working women, the project conducts advocacy programs on gender, women rights and labour rights. Geeshani organizes and conducts workshops and focus groups with women workers and conducts field visits to monitor the activities of mobilizers and to meet stake holders such as officers of the Labour Department. The project has identified the importance of providing its services to informal sector women workers such as domestic workers, piece workers and self-employed workers.
