Jareen Wyatt

Jareen is currently undertaking a journalism cadetship, and she runs community arts projects with Indigenous youth in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia. She aims to help them re-engage with their community, to create a sense of pride in their traditional ownership and to help Indigenous youth to be seen in a positive light. Jareen aims to eventually eliminate racist attitudes in her local community, as can be seen by the restraining orders taken out against local Indigenous youth by both local businesses and retail outlets. Jareen hopes that the DTP training will aid her in reaffirming her personal goal of the changing of stereotypes towards Indigenous people in Australia.
