Jessica Rosien

Australia
As Advocacy Coordinator, Jessica’s role is monitoring and advocacy work around the impacts of multi-lateral development banks (MDB) in general and the Asian Development Bank in particular. Grounded in Oxfam Australia’s rights-based approach the goal of her work is to ensure that communities in Asia are not adversely affected by MDB projects. Through a network of civil society organizations she lobbies MDBs to comply with and improve their safeguard standards relating to the environmental and social impacts of projects. She previously worked for the NGO Forum on the Asia Development Bank based in Manila. She believes that a better understanding of the international human rights framework will help her advocacy work relating to protecting communities from adverse impacts of development projects. She looks forward to hearing from other activists about their experiences and case studies in this area.
