Johannes Vorster

Director Human Resources – Middle East & Africa, Amec Foster Wheeler
South Africa, United Arab Emirates
Mr Vorster has relocated from South Africa to the UAE and is a Director for HR Function in the Middle East & Africa for AMEC Foster Wheeler. Amec Foster Wheeler has a strong commitment towards sustainability. Amec Foster Wheeler does not employ migrant labour, but look after contractors who do. Furthermore, Mr Vorster looks after the recruitment and housing of unskilled labour. Prior to moving to the UAE I have been employed by Anglo American Corporation in South Africa and been involved in the Gold Mining Industry for 7 years and then moved into Construction Industry for 5 years. He has been working in the construction industry, and this construction industry has a joint venture that employs a number of numbers of sub-contractors. One of his clients at the time (TDIC) was involved in the Human Rights Commission requirements and as such adopted an Employment Practices Policy (EPP) which enforced such on all contractors (including Amec Foster Wheeler). Non-compliance was met with severe fines and compliance was awarded with generous financial benefits. He has over 20 years HR Management experience in total. Mr Vorster hopes the DTP Workshop would give him and his organisation a very good insight into adopting ethical business practices.
