Jose Marreto

Ebgan Inc. (Intervention Center Toward Human Development in the Cordillera)
Philippines
Jose works as a community mobilizer, organizer and trainer for Ebgan, a non-government development organization on gender rights among indigenous communities in the Northern Philippines. Jose is involved with working with 3 target groups, namely, women’s organizations in the community, poor urban areas and other sectors that need assistance to seek equality and empowerment to improve their quality of life or other development concerns in the community. His role is to facilitate meetings among members to identify the crucial issues and then develop, implement and monitor a response that will meet the communities’ needs. Jose would like to strengthen his knowledge about business and human rights and on issues concerning corporations and their responsibilities to workers and local communities. The skills he will learn in the DTP will better equip him and Ebgan to conduct their advocacy among the workers of the Export processing zone in Baguio.
