Josua holds a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in sociology and history/politics), from the University of the South Pacific and holds the Duratalo Memorial Prize for most outstanding student graduation with a major in Sociology (1995). Currently he works as a senior consumer officer at the Consumer Council of Fiji. In this role her is principally responsible for, among other things, the Council’s information/research program, preparation of consumer information/advice for regular media presentation, lobbying for consumer rights. Josua has an extensive personal history of social activism in Fiji. He feels that the DTP training will given him the opportunity to learn more about human rights, the work of other organisations and issues that have impact on human rights and governance. The training will also enable him to further his skills of lobbying and advocacy and help develop community strategies for improving human rights, especially in relation to civil, political, social, cultural and economic rights, which are at the heart of consumer rights issues.
