Lance Sullivan

Kaja Waira Aboriginal Corporation
Australia
Mr. Sullivan is the Chairperson of the Kaja Waira Aboriginal Corporation (KWAC) an organisation aimed at making a better life for the youth of the remote Indigenous communities of Australia. The extent of his commitment is evident in that he works entirely on a voluntary basis while also a student at James Cook University undertaking a Bachelor of Social Science (archaeology and anthropology). He is involved in a number of activities conducted by the KWAC including: promoting cultural awareness programs, recreation, sports, education, art and traineeships and engaging with the broader community to support youth and youth programs. He believes the welfare of Indigenous youth people is the utmost importance given their future role as potential community leaders and advocates. Lance believes that by attending the training he may gain skills in lobbying and advocacy, as well as knowledge of human rights that will contribute to his ability to be an effective community leader and advocate.
