Lersay Wai

Lersay Wai is a Karen woman from Melbourne. She has been the secretary for the Victorian Australian Karen Organisation since 2000. As well as fundraising and assisting with settlement, Lersay Wai networks with NGOs and gives public speeches to raise awareness of the political situation in Burma, in IDP areas as well as in the camps on the Thai-Burma border. She has recently participated in organising a Stand by Burma Event in Melbourne. Lersay Wai has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree and a Diploma of information Systems from Swinbourne University of Technology, Melbourne and currently works in software testing and hardware and developing electronic devices. Lersay attended the DTP program in Sydney 2007.
