Mazidah Salas

As chairman of SBMI Wonosobo, Mazidah’s roles encompass a myriad of activities. These include advocating to key influencers in the government, safe migration education, and economic empowerment. In past experiences, Mazidah has led other organizations that strive for protecting migrant worker rights, thus she is well equipped with the skills and knowledge to ensure migrant workers are treated equally. Some of Mazidah’s successes include establishing a free school for migrant workers’ children, establish a grocery store for migrant workers, establish a savings and loan group for migrant workers, provide migrant workers with free internet service, provide ambulance services and establishing a monthly discussion group for migrant workers. It is evident Mazidah is focused specifically on improving the lives and helping migrant workers in need. The main issue Mazidah has encountered relates to solving human trafficking problems. Thus, Mazidah hopes the DTP training will provide her the ability to provide information regarding advocacy network, migrant worker rights and economic empowerment to migrant workers, other NGO’s and local communities. She also hopes to address key issues such as the lack of information available on safe migraytion and regulations that fail to protect migrant workers.
