The DTP training gives tremendous support to developing countries. DTP capacity building training programs are the best way to promote and sustain development. The work of DTP has been valued and continues to be valued
Rejina Joshi participated in DTP South Asia Capacity Building Program for Promoting and Protecting the Rights of Migrant Workers in Nepal in 2013. She is currently the Program Coordinator of Nepal Projects for AWO International – supporting projects focused on the rights of women migrants and overlooked issues of labour migration to and in India, raising awareness of girls and tackling trafficking of women.
The training was an eye-opening learning experience. It helped enhance my capacity in migration and migrants’ issues. I gave priority to advocacy and brought issues that have been overlooked and placed it on the national agenda
Rejina designs programs using a Human Rights-Based Approach and Result-Based Management. The DTP training in 2013 helped her gain a deeper understanding on migration, migrants’ rights, advocacy, the ILO Conventions, and to learn from best practices from other countries.
As I have been working with an international NGO in Nepal, I liaise with civil society in project designing, and collaborate with partner organisations during project implementation and monitoring of such projects. I needed good knowledge on migration, migrants’ rights and international instruments to address and manage the issue at the local level and national level. The DTP training increased my confidence towards the issues and taught me how incorporate them in the program development and design
Rejina collaborates with POURAKHI Nepal, Migrant Forum Asia (MFA) and CARAM ASIA. The DTP program gives participants the opportunity to share knowledge and resources with one another.
One of the projects of AWO Int. in cooperation with Pourakhi Nepal has planned to raise some issues regarding Nepali migrant workers’ difficulties facing in destination country in the regional and international forums such as Migrant Forum Asia (MFA), CARAM ASIA and the objective of such activities are to influence national processes for promotion of migrant rights for instance policy reform and mechanisms for implementation
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
