As part of his work with ELSAM Sekar provides legal services to the community and is involved in monitoring cases, campaigning and lobbying to protect the rights of vulnerable groups – including Indigenous peoples, farmers and women. His work focuses on business/ human rights and development related to multi development bank projects and includes organizing the network, research, reporting and national level campaigning. His awareness raising work includes training at the community level on the impacts of oil palm plantations and the use of conflict resolution mechanisms and with university scholars, members of the press council and local government. Sekar hopes the program will improve his skills in strategic advocacy and critical analysis of legal frameworks.
