Toni Chiran

Toni is a Garo Indigenous and human rights advocate belonging in Bangladesh. He is an organising secretary for the Bangladesh Indigenous Youth Forum (BIYF) which partners with other Indigenous rights groups like Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples Forum (BIPF), Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), Asia Indigenous Youth Platform (AIYP) and other national & International organisations/stakeholders for the protection of Indigenous Peoples rights. He has gained in depth knowledge about human rights by attending the 14th Session of Expert Mechanism on the rights of Indigenous People and more recently, the 3rd UN South Asia Forum on Business and Human Rights held in Dhaka. As a Youth Leader & Human Rights Defender he has been collaborating with the National Human Rights Commission and Human Rights Program, UNDP. Toni also prepared a research paper on the land rights of the Kasi Indigenous people.
