Anita Dhewy

Editor in chief, Jurnal Perempuan
Australia, Indonesia
Anita Dhewy is the Editor in Chief at Jurnal Perempuan. Her current role involves responsibility for the content for Jurnal Perempual including choosing themes, inviting authors to submit articles, editing and selecting articles, and to set editorial policies and oversee all editorial activity. She is also responsible for coordination and consultation with the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the director. In her role as Editor in Chief Anita oversaw the release of JP Edition 97, published in August 2017, in response to the legislative process that was and is taking place, which discussed the role and experiences of domestic workers who work domestically and abroad. Through the research conducted by JP, Anita started to understand the severity of the issues faced, with workers experiencing violence and discrimination, and how an absence of laws that guarantee and protect their rights as workers exacerbates these problems. Through the DTP Program Anita wants to deepen her knowledge on Indonesian and international legal and policy frameworks that regulate labour migration, as well as increasing her capacity and skills in strategic advocacy – and understanding how to utilise media capacities to influence public opinion on the issue.
