Belizia’s organization JDN focuses on ending discrimination against women and young people with disabilities. They have three projects that focus on justice issues; gender equality, sexual harassment, and discrimination of young people with disabilities. To end sexual harassment Belizia works with JDN to provide session education about sexual harassment and gender equality for all young people in the community. She works with microlet drivers to educate them about sexual harassment so people that access public transportation can know about it. She also works with parts of the government to advocate for a code of conduct. Belizia hopes that through this program she can help her organization learn strategies to end sexual harassment and what kind of justice she can use to fight discrimination against women and people with disabilities.
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
