Philippines
As the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Programs Development Associate at Tambuyog Development Center, Bernadette is responsible for the development of program ideas and project proposals and representation of the organisation in discussions on gender, fisheries and trade, climate change and community-based coastal resource management. Bernadette envisages that the DTP training will enhance Tambuyog’s policy and advocacy framework through its focus on a rights-based approach to trade issues, particularly relating to local food security. Bernadette has previously worked as a human rights advocate and was involved as a community organiser in implementing a fisheries resource management program. She is also part of the Philippine National Rural Women’s Coalition working for the passage of the Magna Carta for women, and the [insertion] of women in fisheries in the Comprehensive National Fisheries Integrated Development Plan.
