Ellen Ale

Ellen currently is a project officer with the Family Planning Australia Project conducted in conjunction with Solomon Islands Planned Parenthood Association. As the principal coordinator of the project her tasks include lobbying the Solomon Island’s Government to institutionalise and integrate sexual and reproductive health into the Ministries of Health and Education, as well as into the mainstream educational curriculum, organising seminars and workshops for teachers, youth and the general population both at the national and provincial level. She has extensive community based work experience having to work with local communities and church groups to identify at risk youth who can benefit from the services provided by the Youth Outreach Program in which she is involved with. Ellen has extensive professional training in issues relating to health and human rights. She would like to participate in the DTP training to enhance and develop her capabilities to carry out her current project in the Solomon Islands and to integrate the information learnt at this training into future awareness workshops to enhance the knowledge within the communities she serves through her work.
