Farah is the policy research and advocacy officer at Alyansa Tigil Mina. Alyansa Tigil Mina is an alliance of mining-affected communities and their support group of NGOs, peoples’ organizations and other civil society organizations, who are opposing the aggressive promotion of large-scale mining in the Philippines. Farah is in charge of conducting studies related to the organization’s anti-mining advocacy. She drafts policy papers that informs and updates the public and the organization’s constituents on developments on the anti-mining campaign, develops information materials that are disseminated to various groups for campaign purposes, and leads media and public relations work in close coordination with network partners. She also engages in lobby work at congress for the passage of laws and policies related to mining, and coordinates with local partner organizations to strengthen the local organizations and network’s position against mining. She is currently documenting human rights violations against anti-mining advocates, including disappearances and killings.
