Francelino dos Santos Serra

Officer and Lecturer Assistant, UNTL-Human Rights Centre
Timor-Leste

After a 2-year training & study period with the Global Campus of Human Rights, Francelino has been working as an officer of joint projects between the UNTL Human Rights Centre & the Global Campus in support of the promotion of human rights and higher education in Timor-Leste. He has successfully advocated for curriculum reforms aimed at the mainstreaming of human rights education across the UNTL Faculties. Most recently, he has been promoting the adoption of child rights education at the National University of Timor-Leste, and the integration of new teaching modules at the faculties of Law, Medicine and Education. He works closely with the project manager and the team to support the organization of human rights and children rights training courses, workshops, and seminars, together with local and international experts. As a human rights defender working in the academic sector, he believes in the transformative potential of human rights education for new generations. He wishes to both increase his own knowledge of human rights and learn from a best practice of human rights education that can contribute to the growth of the newly established UNTL Human Rights Centre.
