Judge Vui Clarence Nelson from Samoa is well known for his efforts to advance the status of children’s rights in the Pacific Region. He was the first Pacific Islander to be elected to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, which he served on for  two terms. He was a Vice-Chairperson of the Committee.
