Lalremruata Chhakchhuak

Mr Chhakchuak is the Executive Director of Zo Indigenous Forum, an Indigenous Peoples’ organisation in Mizoram, NE India. Zo Indigenous Forum seeks to strengthen the solidarity of Indigenous and tribal peoples against colonisation and repression from the state. Lalremruata is involved in advocacy work that aims to promote Indigenous Peoples rights to self-determine, promote development over their land, territory and resources, and conservation and management of the natural environment. Lalremruata is also one-of-twelve Executive Council Member of the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP). Lalremruata hopes to expand his knowledge on how to utilise human rights and UN mechanisms to protect the rights of Indigenous People as well as develop practical advocacy skills.
