November, 2017
DTP, MFA, CCF AND PIANGO have organized and hosted a 2-day consultation to discuss key issues of the Global Compact on Migration in the Pacific on 2-3 November in Nadi, Fiji.
Over 30 civil societies’ organisation and stakeholders from six Pacific Islands gathered for the inaugural Global Compact on Migration Pacific consultation. The high-level consultation will bring together policymakers, civil society, academia and experts in the Pacific region to decide on actions that will improve the management of migration. The consultation will ensure that there is an opportunity for the voices from civil society in the Pacific to be heard in the context of the development of the UN Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
