Invitation to groundbreaking new West Papua film ‘PIG FEAST’

Level 1, 79 Myrtle St, Chippendale

13th March Friday

05:00 PM - 07:00 PM

This event has concluded

Made by Papua’s leading filmmakers and journalists, the film reveals how
government and corporate entities – collaborating with military and religious
groups – advance international and national goals of ‘food security’ and
‘energy transition’ at the expense of Indigenous communities and landscapes.

Pig Feast documents the resistance of the Marind, Muyu, Awyu and Mandobo
Indigenous communities whose ancestral lands have been chosen as ground
zero for the largest forest conversion project in modern history – turning 2.5
million hectares of tropical forest into industrial plantations – a form of
colonialism in our time.

Renowned journalists (and DTP alumni) Executive Producer Victor Mambor
and Director Dandhy Laksono will discuss the film after it is screened.

DTP has been working to build the knowledge, skills and networks of human
rights defenders in Asia and the Pacific since 1990.
