Kamal Kumar belongs to the Kirant Indigenous Saparang Samarang in Nepal. Currently he is serving as Chair for Indigeneity Research and Conservation Advocacy in Indigenous Knowledge and Peoples Networks, Society for Wetland Biodiversity Conservation. His Master’s degree in Biodiversity focused on Climate Change and Biodiversity. As an advocate of human rights for Indigenous communities in Nepal he is currently focused on mitigating violations of human rights in Indigenous population associated with conservation programs that involve relocation of Indigenous peoples from their territories, lands and resources. He is also affiliated with Federation of Kirant Indigenous Associations Nepal and Nepal Indigenous Women Forum which are focused on women rights in marginalised Indigenous community.
