Lady Diana Dizon-Tiangco

Mindanao Coordinator, Indigenous Peoples Rights Monitor (IPRM)
Philippines
KALUMARAN is an alliance of Indigenous peoples from the five ethnographic subregions of Mindanao in Southern Philippines. Yang promotes international networking and solidarity building between KALUMARAN and other Indigenous peoples’ organizations abroad. She is also responsible for the collation of the Lumad Mindanao Human Rights reports and cases, and takes part in designing training modules for Indigenous peoples, such as Legal Literacy Trainings and the Environmental Cadres Course program (EnviCore). Yang was involved in KALUMARAN’s 12-day lobbying/advocacy Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Campaign from December 1-12, 2019 (International Human Rights Week) to drum up public and congressional support to their call for the lifting of Martial Law in Mindanao. Mindanao is resource rich and affected by mining and plantations. Yang hopes the training will help level up KALUMARAN’s human rights work and advocacy and that the skills and knowledge she learns will help design training modules in Legal Literacy for Indigenous Peoples where international instruments and mechanisms can be shared and taught at “literacy” levels to community leaders.
