2026 Building Resilience for Human Rights and Democracy Movements

Bangkok, Thailand

September 2026

Applications close Saturday, September 19, 2026

The workshop is a timely response to the closing of civil society spaces and the rise in authoritarianism globally, and the suspension of much US funding support for human rights and democracy programs.

The workshop aims to:

  • Increase awareness of human rights and democracy capacity-building in the region;
  • Share methodologies and approaches;
  • Reflect and document the range of approaches to capacity building on human rights;
  • Recommend impactful and strategic capacity-building strategies; and
  • Establish a network of organisations and individuals engaged in capacity building to facilitate ongoing collaboration.

DTP is seeking expressions of interest for this workshop from organisations and individuals involved in training and capacity-building in human rights and advocacy education in Asia.  It will lay the groundwork for greater cooperation, coordination, and complementarity in capacity-building strategies and programs to meet the needs and challenges of human rights and democracy movements in the region.

Applications must be received by Saturday, September 19, 2026. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application shortly after the closing date.
