The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP) and the Australian National Contact Point (AusNCP) for the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct have co-hosted a series of webinars to build awareness of the OECD Guidelines and the work of National Contact Points (NCPs).
The OECD Guidelines set out governments’ expectations of how businesses should act responsibly, including by respecting human rights, across their operations and supply chains. Each government that adheres to the Guidelines has an NCP, which can receive complaints from communities, civil society organisations and human rights defenders about business conduct, and help resolve them through mediation.
The series explores how communities affected by business conduct can use the Guidelines and the NCP process as practical advocacy tools, and what companies are expected to do through human rights due diligence. Drawing on the experience of the AusNCP and the lived experience of DTP alumni in Asia and the Pacific, the webinars have covered the NCP complaints process, forced labour and modern slavery in supply chains, and the rights of Indigenous Peoples, including Free, Prior and Informed Consent.
This webinar series is co-hosted with the Australian National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct.
