Anastasia Savitri Wisnuwardhani

National Secretary, Jaringan Buruh Migran (JBM) / Migrant Workers Network
Indonesia
Anastasia is the National Secretary of Jaringan Buruh Migran (JBM). Her role involves the coordination and mobilisation of members of JBM for campaigns and advocacy, producing policy briefs for Government lobbying and consultation, developing campaign tools, collaborating with media, and monitoring Governments movement to ensure they are moving in the development and endorsement of new legislation on work migration. Anastasia uses her practical experience to make sure that Indonesia’s Migrant Workers are protected through law and regulations. Through the DTP Program Anastasia would like to develop a deeper knowledge of international human rights standards in relation to migrant workers and different methods that civil society organisations can monitor and ensure accountability in the government’s actions, and hopes to enhance skills in strategic advocacy. She would also like to understand the different frameworks that exist in other regions and internationally, as she believes having this understanding will help in streamlining the process of advocating for Indonesian workers in their work destination countries, in order to speed up the processes of having their cases settled., Savitri is responsible for research activities at Institute for ECOSOC Rights and is currently working on issues related to migrant workers and poverty issues. She has done extensive research into the problems of Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore. She was previously an investigator for Indonesian Corruption Watch examining the funds allotted for the 2004 Indonesian elections. She has practical experience with NGOs, working in partnership with a wide variety of actors including government, civil society and also the private sector. She has also worked as a legal consultant handling lawsuits on unilateral dismissals and facilitating workshops on paralegal skills for labour organisers.
