Anthony Gaykamangu

Anthony (Djamangi) is currently employed as a Youth Worker for East Arnhem Shire Council. His role as a Youth Worker is to provide youth programs that are culturally appropriate to Yolngu. These programs assist the Yolngu people maintain healthy living, connect to country, and build their confidence and self-esteem. Djamangi is also a member of the Chooky dancers and has travelled around Australia to perform and also facilitate dance workshops in schools. He has also performed internationally in large dance festivals about human rights in Canada, China, and in the Pacific and Solomon Islands. Djamangi is also a very passionate actor and AFL player; he is the captain of his AFL team. Djamangi has experienced human rights issues affecting his people in the areas of health and housing and the effect of the NT Intervention.
