Chai is Outreach and Event Coordinator for SUARAM and is in charge of the outreach program, membership drive, local fundraising and merchandising. She organises a monthly program for training and workshops in human rights in order to increase the awareness and capacity of the public in this field. Chai also writes and distributes an e-newsletter every month to keep volunteers, members and NGOs updated on SUARAM’s work. Suaram is involved in a Freedom of Information (FOI) campaign in Malaysia, which includes work on ensuring accountability and transparency in the government, as well as other sectors like corporations. Chai hopes to be able to share SUARAM’s experiences in the FOI campaign in monitoring and demanding for accountability and transparency in corporations, especially those which involve public interest.
