Daniel Ernest Davies

Policy and Advocacy Officer, St. Andrew’s Refugee Services
Egypt
Daniel Davies is a policy and advocacy officer with St. Andrew’s Refugee Services. His work involves collaborating with members of their four programs (Education, Psychosocial, Legal, and Community Outreach) on advocacy issues that directly affect their programs, providing training for their staff, community leaders, and other members of the displaced communities on how to advocate for individual clients and how to conduct advocacy on broader issues and raising awareness about the StARS model. He believes that domestic politics and misinformation pose two of the biggest challenges in protecting and promoting migrant workers’ human rights. He hopes that through participating in this DTP course on human rights and advocacy for migrant workers, he may learn from and network with trainers and participants who have successfully navigated similar waters, enabling him to share the practical strategies that he would have learned with colleagues, leaders of refugee community-based organisations, and relevant service providers back in Cairo.
