Elena is currently a Governance Specialist with the UNDP – NCIP PMO, PHI/01/007. She considers herself to be a human rights advocate for Indigenous peoples’ rights, a peace advocate in the Southern Philippines, and a humanitarian service practitioner in post-conflict situations such as East Timor. She is currently involved in creating social constructs and encouraging social processes towards the formulation of culture-sensitive policies. She has participated in the lobby for the enactment of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act and the Organic Act for the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, and holds both a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English, and a Master of Arts in Philippine Studies (Society and Culture).
