Maria Hingi is a chairperson at Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia of Nusa Tenggara Timur. Her role involves ensuring the registration of the SBMI to the relevant government, sharing information on the safe migration of migrant workers, building and maintaining relations with government officials, NGOs, churches, academics and activists. Maria also has experience working with the ILO to provide training so that Indonesian migrant workers can manage finances brought home after working abroad and collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Culture training important leaders within society including religious, community and youth leaders about the trafficking of persons (PTPPO). By participating in the program, Maria is hoping to share experiences, while also gaining valuable insight and knowledge from other participants experiences and skills and using this to improve the lives of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
