DTP-MFA and MECTD developed and delivered 3 regional workshops on private sector and migrant workers. Two workshops in 2016 brought together over 60 participants from CSOs, TUs, government, private sector, and media from across the region. In 2017 a series of follow-up discussions with alumni of these programs emphasised the value of these workshops and provided guidance for future programs.
Participants in these programs have been involved in the construction sector’s Building Responsibly initiative, and in the development of initiatives around reforms of recruitment and legislation on domestic workers. DTP reached out and built cooperation with other actors also, including the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC), Institute on Human Rights and Business (IHRB) and Stern Centre of NYU.
DTP acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, the Bedegal people of the Eora Nation. We recognise their lands were never ceded, and we acknowledge their struggles for recognition and rights and pay our respects to the Elders – past, present – and the youth who are working towards a brighter tomorrow. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
